Passion expressed in the Name of Tateho

Origin of Our Name

In autumn, Ako Castle, a landmark in our city, used to be surrounded by a mass of Tate (scarlet knotweed) flowers. "Ako" (Red Buds) took its name from these flowers.

Our company name, "Tateho" also comes from the Tate (scarlet knotweed) flowers that set the fields ablaze with color. Tateho Chemical Industry, taking the name of its hometown, seeks to build a relationship of trust with our customers treasuring our bond, with passion for burning red like the flowers of Tate.

50 Years since the Company’s Establishment from Salt Manufacturing

Long History of Innovation

Salt has been manufactured in Ako since the Nara period (710-784). In the Edo period (1603-1867), large Irihama style salt field was formed and supported the Ako domain.

Ako Nishihama Salt Business Association, that carried on this technique, had been dumped a large quantity of “bittern” left after separating salt from seawater. It wanted to make this useful for society and has succeeded in producing magnesium oxide from the bittern.

In 1948, the Chemical Products Division was founded in the Ako Nishihama Salt Business Association. The division became an independent company, Tateho Chemical Industries Co., Ltd. in 1966. Thanks to your continued support, we were able to celebrate our 50 year anniversary in 2016.
